COSTA RICA RAINFOREST ADVENTURE tour

This tour is specially designed for nature and adventure lovers. After one night in a nice hotel of San Jose, get prepared for 2 exciting days at the world-famous Tortuguero National Park where you will have the change to enjoy a great biodiversity of flora and fauna. Continue your adventure with 2 nights at Eco project, Selva Bananito Lodge where you will have a close contact with nature, and the opportunity to experience the rain forest first hand. Selva Bananito Lodge and Reserve are located on a family farm. The reserve covers two-thirds of the farm and consists of primary rain forest. It shares borders with Area de Conservacion La Amistad (La Amistad Biosphere Reserve), Central America's largest protected wilderness expanse, which consists of national and international parks and preserves. This area remains one of the least explored territory in the region, its biological wealth only partially known. Continue your adventure with an exciting class III-IV White water rafting at the Pacuare River world famous for its sheer beauty followed by two nights at either Puerto Viejo Beach or Arenal area and a last night in San Jose before departing home.

ITINERARY: 7 Days / 6 Nights

(Day 1) Arrival to Costa Rica

Upon arrival to Juan Santamaria International airport, our guide/driver will pick you up and will take you to your hotel in San Jose for one night lodging. He will forward all documents related to your trip including itinerary, vouchers, brochures and other documents. Free day to explore the city. Lodging at Hotel Britannia, Palma Real, Balmoral or similar in San Jose.

(Day 2) Tortuguero National Park
Early in the morning, around 6:15 a.m., a guide from Mawamba or Laguna Lodge will meet you at the hotel`s reception and will take you to our Caribbean Zone. You will be traveling with a bilingual naturalist guide on an air conditioned bus. Drive through Braulio Carrillo National Park, where you have the opportunity to see beautiful views and abundant vegetation. On the way we will stop for breakfast at a local restaurant and then we will continue our trip to Cape Blanco deck driving by banana plantations. At Cape Blanco or Matina you will board the covered boat to the lodge, passing the Tortuguero canals arriving between 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. At the lodge our staff will be waiting for you with a refreshing cocktail, your rooms will be assigned and the guide will explain the afternoon activities after lunch is a visit to the Turtle Museum of the C.C.C. (Caribbean Conservation Corporation) and to the colorful Tortuguero town. At the end of the activities, you are free to enjoy the hotel`s facilities which include swimming pool, bar and beautiful gardens.

(Day 3) Tortuguero - Boat tour to the Canals
Optional 6:15 am tour to admire the awakening of the wildlife of Tortuguero. Return for breakfast (service between 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.). Then another boat tour to admire the canals of Tortuguero National Park. This is a wonderful and interesting experience where you can see abundant flora and fauna of Tortuguero National Park. Return to the lodge for lunch and free time for a siesta, enjoy the pool or go for a walk to the beach. Then you have another optional tour to the canals or stay at the lodge to explore the private trails of the lodge, visit the open butterfly garden or simply enjoy the pool. Dinner at the lodge and free night.

(Day 4) Selva Bananito Lodge

Breakfast included at your hotel and boat transportation to the dock. Continue the trip to Siquirres, where our driver will pick you up and will take you to Selva Bananito Lodge. We recommend having a snack at Caribbean Dish Restaurant as you will be arriving to Selva Bananito around 3:30 p.m. for lunch. The cabins at Selva Bananito stand on a ridge flanked by two streams. On one side of the ridge you will see the Bananito River and its valley , where the farm's pastures, plantations, and reforested areas are (great birdwatching here!). On the other side your eyes will fall upon the beautiful Cerro Muchilla and the Amistad Biosphere, which our borders touch. Lunch and dinner included. Day at leisure to enjoy by your own.

(Day 5) Tour at Selva Bananito
After a buffet breakfast, you can choose from any of the following tours: Introductory tree climbing, horseback riding or a natural guided hiking on the private reserve. Back to the lodge for lunch. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy surroundings or to take one of the optional tours offered at this lodge. At Selva Bananito Lodge and Reserve we offer tranquillity, beauty, close contact with nature, and the opportunity to experience the rain forest first hand. We also offer insights into agriculture in the humid tropics. Many tourist resorts in Costa Rica bring visitors in touch with the exquisite natural beauty of the country, but we are among the very few who have also taken an active stand in environmental protection. (Day 6) Pacuare White Water Rafting
Early breakfast before a driver from Selva Bananito takes you to Bananito Village where a guide from Exploradores Outdoors will meet you. Be ready to get wet at the exciting Pacuare White Water Rafting tour. The Pacuare River is world famous for its sheer beauty. A true river gorge, it is flanked by steep, green walls. Here you enjoy the feeling of total isolation from urban life and the realness of being connected with nature. You see waterfalls cascade into the river from both sides as colorful, tropical birds fly right over your head. Amazing views of this virgin tropical rainforest area, appear before your eyes as you descend this true exploratory land. The Pacuare River has white water that is equal to its natural beauty and abundant wildlife. It is not an overly challenging river, but it has a lot rapids, therefore giving you an adventure filled with lots of fun. The 18 mile one day run includes a total of 38 rapids. Few rivers in the world can offer you so many rapids in such a short stretch of river. The tour includes transportation, breakfast, lunch, equipment and guides. At the end of this tour you will be taken to either San Jose for overnight.

(Day 7) Departure
Breakfast, shuttle transportation service to International Airport according to your flight schedule.
